Clyde & Co strengthens SE Asian marine group

Singapore: Clyde & Co Singapore has appointed Captain Bruce Ewen and Ronel Snyman to its South East Asian marine group in order to strengthen its regional marine capability.

Captain Bruce Ewen has taken on the role of Master Mariner as of this month, prior to which he worked with Maritime Claims and Services, BW Shipping; Mobil Oil and other major shipowners.  Captain Ewen is well known in the marine sector and has been involved in investigating marine casualties in the region for almost 20 years.

Ronel Snyman, who qualified as a lawyer in 2001, has over four years in-house experience as legal manager for a major shipping group in Europe dealing with all legal aspects arising from shipowning, management and operations.

John Champion, head of the firm's South East Asia marine group said: "The firm has been involved in many of the major casualties in the region since the office was established in Singapore in 1991.  The strategic position of Singapore as a maritime trade and services hub, coupled with its growing attractiveness to international shipowners compels us to continue expanding our team to provide a full service to our clients in the region and internationally.  Captain Ewen's expertise in investigating marine casualties combined with Ronel's practical in-house legal experience allows us to deliver a broader based legal response to our clients, and enhances our reputation as a first tier choice for significant marine casualties in the region."   [14/02/08]
