Dubai: French container liner CMA CGM has announced that as of November 6, its South America east coast-Persian Gulf service, the Vasco Express will now operate on a weekly basis and call at Jebel Ali.
The service, which primarily transports refrigerated cargo, will now be operated in partnership with CSAV and deploy eight 1,700teu vessels (each equipped with 350 reefer plugs) - an increase from the line's seven vessels when it began operations last February.
The port rotation for the service will be:
Santos - Paranagua - Itajai- Rio Grande - Khor Fakkan - Jebel Ali - Damman - Bandar Abbas - Nhava Sheva - Durban - Santos.
"These changes enable us to meet strong reefer cargo demand in the region around Jebel Ali and to reduce transit time between Rio Grande and the Persian Gulf by two days - a major competitive advantage when it comes to transporting sensitive cargo," said Jean-Yves Duval, director of Latin America East Coast lines.
