Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government has approved a proposal to develop Colachel as a major hub port. "The State Government has given us a no-objection certificate... [bids] have been invited from consultants for preparing a detailed project report," Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T.R. Baalu (pictured) told reporters. The port will serve as a second container terminal in the Chennai area and construction could start as early as this December. [18/01/07]
