COSCO Shipyard completes new Guangdong facility

Hong Kong: COSCO Shipyard Group, a major Chinese repair-yard, has constructed a new facility in Dongguan, Guangdong province. The site of the new facility covers an area of 400,000 sq.m, and the yard will repair ships of up to Capesize bulkers thus far undertaken by the Guangzhou yard, and will also engage in newbuildings. In August 2007, the yard received orders for eight 57,000-dwt bulkers by three owners, Golden Union of Greece, ER Denizcilik of Turkey and another Greek owner. The yard aims at constructing 1 million dwt of ships in the coming three years.
