Cosco Zhoushan yard agrees to defer delivery of bulk carrier by one year

Cosco Zhoushan yard agrees to defer delivery of bulk carrier by one year
China’s Cosco (Zhoushan) Shipyard has agreed to extend the delivery of a newbuilding bulk carrier by one year at the request of the European shipowner.

The delivery date of the bulk carrier will be deferred from the second quarter of 2017 to the second quarter of 2018.

“The extension was agreed upon at the request of the European shipowner and taking into account the current unfavaourable market conditions,” said Cosco Corporation (Singapore) Limited, parent of Cosco Shipyard Group which in turn owns the Zhoushan shipyard.

“In view of the rescheduling and the uncertainty as to when the shipowners will take delivery of the bulk carrier, it is not possible to ascertain the financial impact of the agreement for rescheduling at this point in time,” Cosco Corp added.
