Shanghai: COSCO and CMA CGM have announced a new jointly operated service, MEX II, between China/South East Asia and four direct ports in the West Med.
The MEX II service will deploy seven 3500 / 4000 teu-size ships ( five supplied by COSCON and two by CMA CGM) on a rotation running: Qingdao, Shanghaï, Hong-Kong, Shekou, Singapore, Port Kelang, Naples, Genoa, Barcelona, Valencia, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong-Kong, Qingdao.
A satement by CMA CGM said, "This new service not only enlarges the service coverage and service quality for COSCON and CMA CGM, but also enhances the cooperation between two companies. MEX II is exclusively dedicated to the trade between China / Southern Asia and the West Med, and will offer unbeatable transit time to Italy and Spain. It will connect Hong-Kong with Naples in 17 days, Shanghaï with Genoa in 21 days, and Shanghaï with Barcelona in 23 days."
The first ship M/V Empress Phoenix will leave Qingdao on March 9. [26/01/07]
