Cost savings put RCL back in the black in Q3

Cost savings put RCL back in the black in Q3
Cost control and services changes helped push Regional Container Lines (RCL) back into the black in the third quarter of 2014.

RCL reported a third quarter net profit of THB60m compared to a THB222m loss in the same period a year earlier.

“Stringent cost control, realignment of services and fleet deployment as well as selective product mix have contributed to the operating gain of THB50m in 3Q 2014, before a gain on sales of fixed assets,” the company said.

The company booked a gain of THB11m in the third quarter on the sale of containers.

Total volumes declined 9% year-on-year in Q3 to 474,594 teu.
