CSBC and Yangzijiang to collaborate

Kaohsiung: General Manager Tan Taiping of CSBC confirmed that Chairman Ren Yuanlin of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding visited CSBC on 27th of this month, to mutually cooperate for more orders. ??CSBC said both sides would sign a memorandum of understanding. ??In the future CSBC would take charge of ship design and technology while Yangzijiang would offer dock and labour. ??Yangzijiang ranked 4th and 15th among Chinese and global private yards respectively. Last year the revenue reached CNY10.6bn ($1.6bn). ??CSBC is Taiwan's largest shipyard but it could not take many new orders due to limited docks. CSBC has advantages in boxship design and building while Yangzijiang has abundant docks and labour. As a result, the two builders were likely to stand together. ??General Tan Taiping indicated that the new orders in the second half year were fewer than those in the first half year. In addition, he was not optimistic on next year. ??In recent years, CSBC expanded cooperation with research institutes and shipyards from mainland China. Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, meanwhile, earlier this year raised money on the stock exchange in Taipei. [28/10/10]
