CSTC receives Danaos order for additional 8,530teu containership

Shanghai: The China Shipbuilding Trading Company (CSCT) yesterday confirmed that it had received an order from Greek shipping company Danaos for a fifth 8,530teu Post Panamax containership. The vessels are to be built by the Shanghai Jiangnan Changxing Heavy Industry Company Limited and are scheduled for delivery between August 2010 and February 2011.

All five sister vessels are already contracted out to an unnamed international liner company on 12 year charters which are estimated to contribute approximately $65m to Danaos' EBITDA

Dr. Coustas, Danaos ceo said, "With this deal we have not only managed to increase our total fleet to 63 containerships, but also secure long term charters for all vessels of our contracted fleet. In conclusion, we have increased our contracted revenue to $5.2bn."  [18/09/07]
