Daewoo Shipbuilding sets astonishing monthly record

Seoul: Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., the world's third-largest shipbuilder, said Tuesday that it has won orders worth $4 billion in July to build 29 vessels, marking the first time that a local shipbuilder has clinched orders worth $4 billion on a monthly basis, the company said in a statement.
Shares of Daewoo were trading at 61,600 won ($67.27) as of 10:45 a.m., up 2.84 percent from the previous session.
So far this year, the shipbuilder has won $13 billion in orders to build 98 ships, around 76.4 percent of its yearly target of $17 billion. [24/07/07]
