Deltamarin inks contract to build smaller handys at CSSC yard
China: The slow market sees even more design companies touting new eco designs as to get up on the competition.

Finnish firm Deltamarin announced it has signed a contract with CSSC / Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard for the design of its B.Delta25 bulk carriers. This is the first contract for the 28,000 dwt smaller handys, building on the sstrength of the series building contracts for the larger B.Delta37 bulkers currently being built at CSIC / Tianjin Xingang, CSSC / Chengxi and Yangfan Group shipyards for d'Amico.

Deltamarin's design is billed as a single hull bulk carrier with shallow draft and good manoeuvring capabilities intended for operation in restricted water depths, and very low fuel consumption. It claims a service speed at design draft of 14 knots and daily fuel oil consumption of 16.6 tons including 15% sea margin and an EEDI rating 23% lower than required.

Deltamarin will handle the basic design, part of the detailed design and the technical procurement for the project and will also maintain staff on-site to supervise construction. Deltamarin did not disclose who the vessels would be built for.
