Seoul: Doosan Engine has hit the 40m horse power mark after just 22 years in the marine engine market. The Korean manufacturer celebrated the landmark at an unveiling ceremony for the engine that took it past the milestone - destined for a 4,860 teu containership building at Daewoo Mangalia for German operator NSB. The company claims to have built the world's largest engine, at 108,000 hp, together with the world's first next-generation electronically-controlled engine. Doosan Engine's rapid rise has given it a 25% share of the global marine engine market. (18/10/06)
