Dubai: DP World is finalising a shortlist of potential buyers for its US port assets that it acquired in the takeover of P&O Ports. Strong contenders include the infrastructure fund of Morgan Stanley, the private equity Carlyle Group and Carrix, parent of SSA Marine, a Seattle-based container terminal operator. The shortlist marks the start of the sale process for the five container terminal operations and other US cargo and passenger handling businesses. DP World has been forced to sell off US operations after political outcry over the prospect of an Arab state-owned company controlling US port terminals. [01/09/06]
