Dubai: DP World has placed an order for 84 Kalmar PT122 terminal tractors at its Jebel Ali Port container facility. The vehicles, due for delivery this summer, are to be used as part of the new Terminal 2 (T2) expansion phase.
The new PT122 terminal tractors on order will be engineered as evolutionary versions of the previously supplied units currently working at Jebel Ali Terminal 1 and will boast an EU Stage 3A / Tier III engine.
Situated 25km south of Dubai, Jebel Ali is the largest duty free port in the Middle East. The new termial is expected to be operational this year and should expand the port's capacity by 5m teu. In 2006, Jebel Ali Port handled 8.9m teu, up from 7.7m the previous year. [09/03/07]
