Dubai: DP World vice chairman Jamal Majid bin Thaniah will deliver the keynote address at the opening conference session of the Seatrade Middle East Maritime (SMEM) event beginning Monday in Dubai at the World Trade Centre.
Other heavyweight speakers at the session, which will examine the State of the Industry across the Middle East and Central Asia, include NITC chairman Mohammad Souri , Intercargo chairman Niicolas Pappadakis, Jordan National Shipping Lines - East Gulf Shipping chairman Ahmad Armush, and Sharaf Group vice chairman Sharafuddin Sharaf.
On the evening of the first day will be the gala dinner for the Dubai International Maritime Awards (DIMAs). Presenting the awards will be Guest of Honour Souri, himself winner of the inaugural Personality of the Year award two years ago.
The exhibition and conference will run concurrently at the World Trade Centre from December 4-6. Separate conference strands will look at general shipping, cruise and superyacht. Social events include a golf tournament sponsored by Dubai Drydocks on Sunday Dec 3, and a 'Desert Jam' jazz concert presented by Scan-Trans on Wednesday Dec 6. [01/11/06]
