Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) has won a bid to build two 170,000 cu m LNG vessels for Sinopec APLNG project in Australia.

The award for the newbuilding deal came from China Shipping Group and Sinopec late last week, reports said.

Sinopec said it is expecting to import 7.6m tonnes of LNG each year from the APLNG project between 2015 to 2035. China Shipping Group will provide shipping services for the clean gas project.

At the end of last year, DSIC had signed letters of intent with Tianjin Marine to build four new LNG carriers.
