Seoul: South Korea-based Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has announced that it has signed contracts for new containership orders worth $1.05bn for German clients. The yard is to build four 8,400teu vessels and four 4,600teu vessels for the NV group as well as and four 4,400teu containerships for the T&H group. All 12 vessels are to be delivered to their owners by June 2010.
In a statement, the company said, "DSME has received 17 containership orders this year. With this order we posted new orders worth $5bn so far including offshore plants. This represents 45.4% of this year's target amount of $11bn." [23/05/07]
