Seoul: Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has bagged Euro454.5m ($567.2m) deal from Allseas to build a dynamically positioned platform installation /decommissioning and pipelay vessel. DSME is due to deliver the vessel, Pieter Schelte in 2013, which in total will cost Euro1.3bn to build. Pieter Schelte, with a length of 382m and a width of 117m, will have a topsides lift capacity of 48,000 tonnesand a jacket lift capacity of 25,000 tonnes. The pipelay tension capacity will be 2,000 tonnes, doubling the capacity of Allseas' Solitaire and thereby surpassing her as the world's largest pipelay vessel. [14/06/10]
