Seoul: Leading Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) celebrated the christening of the new 3,752teu container vessel for owner Hamburg Süd at its yard in Okpo this morning (pictured).
The vessel, named the Bahia Laura, is the fifth in a series of six identical sister ships and will be delivered to its new owner on Thursday, July 12. The yard has already delivered the first four vessels earlier this year and is expected to deliver the final container ship in the series, the Bahia Negra, in August.
Upon delivery, the Bahia Laura will cater to the booming trade on Hamburg Süd's liner service between Asia/South Africa and South America East Coast. [10/07/07]
