Singapore: Emirates Shipping Line's new 3,3398teu vessel Emirates Wasl made her maiden call at Singapore on November 22, docking at Jurong Port just after midnight. The vessel at 0045hours was built by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co and was delivered on November 10. Emirates Wasl is one of six similar ships deployed in the Hyper Galex Service, operated jointly by ESL (four vessels), TS Lines (one), and the Shipping Corporation of India (one). The service, which calls Xingang, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Kelang, Colombo, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali and Cochin, makes one eastbound call and one westbound call at Jurong Port weekly. Surajit Das, ESL's regional director (Southeast Asia), commented that as a start-up company it was important that ESL "works with the right partners to grow our business. Jurong Port's friendliness, efficiency and flexibility make it an ideal partner." Matthew Chan, Jurong Port's ceo, welcomed the new caller and said he looked forward to "developing a long-term partnership together".  [27/11/06]
