Dubai: Emirates Shipping Line (ESL) has launched a new Gulf Indian-Subcontinent Africa Service (GIA) as well as a new Africa Far-east Asia Service (AFA) - which will be run using a combination of Emirates Shipping Line's Hyper Galex service and the AFA service over Colombo. ESL will provide five out of the six 1,100 teu used to operate these services, while TS Line as partners will provide the sixth.
"Our new services announced today targeted the high growth areas in East Africa which are important to our overall strategy," said Vikas Khan, ESL Chairman and ceo. "By offering a comprehensive network of reliable services we are responding to the needs of our customer base."
The GIA service offers a direct scheduled weekly service from the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to East Africa following the port rotation: Nhava Sheva - Karachi - Jebel Ali - Mombasa - Dar Es Salaam - Mombassa - Nhava Sheva.

The AFA service will connect China and Southeast Asia with two major ports in East Africa, following the port rotation: Xingang - Qingdao - Shanghai - Ningbo - Hong Kong - Singapore - Port Klang - Colombo - Dar Es Salaam - Mombasa. [13/04/07]
