Evergas books up to six ethane/ethylene carriers at Chinese yard
Evergas has placed an order for up to six 32,000 cu m liquefied ethane/ethylene carriers at a selected shipyard in China.

The order is for four firm ships with an option for two additional units, and the newbuildings are scheduled to be delivered from the first quarter of 2018 onwards.

The shipbuilding deal was entered into with JHW Engineering & Contracting, the Hong Kong-registered subsidiary of Jaccar Holdings, which is the majority shareholder of Evergas.

JHW offers detailed engineering, procurement and contracting management solutions for the shipping and offshore oil and gas industries.

The INEOS MAX 32,000 cu m liquefied ethane/ethylene carriers are equipped with 10% more cargo capacity, dual fuel propulsion flexibility, eco-hull design, and ballast water treatment system.

Evergas said the new 32,000 cu m ships will release the LNG transportation capacity of the existing Dragon series of 27,500 cu m LNG carriers.

Up to today, three of total eight 27,500 cu m LNG carriers have been delivered to Evergas for bringing US ethane from shale gas to INEOS’ manufacturing sites in Europe, with five vessels remaining.
