Taipei: The Evergreen Group has announced that it is to establish its own liner agency company, Evergreen Agency (South Africa) (PTY) LTD. (ESA), in Johannesburg with other two branch offices in Cape Town and Durban commencing operations on 1 April, 2009.
"By setting up our own agency, we not only deliver better efficiencies and productivity to our customers but also safeguard our competitiveness in today's challenging times and developing a future vision in Africa," an Evergreen spokesperson said.
The company claims that establishing ESA, a joint venture with the company's long-standing partner and agent--Green Africa Shipping (PTY) Ltd (GAS), is in recognition of the potential market and its strategic location in Africa. ESA will be staffed by many former GAS employees in order to maintain continuity with customers and to ensure a smooth transition of business. [31/03/09]
