Evergreen steps up Asia-Europe surcharges

Taipei: Evergreen Line says it has decided to revise upward it Emergency Bunker Surcharge on the Far East and Indian Sub-Continent to Europe and Mediterranean Westbound Trades to reflect the cost of bunker consumption based on the cargo volume. In this way it will be able to "continue offering services with good qualities to all our clients". Details are as follows:

Service Scope I : Far East (including Japan) to Europe and Mediterranean Westbound Trades
       Effective Date: October/01/2009 (On-Board date)
       Charge Item Code: Emergency Bunker Surcharge ( EBS )
       Quantum: USD 188/Teu

Service Scope II : Indian Sub-Continent to Europe and Mediterranean Westbound Trades
       Effective Date: October/01/2009 (On-Board date)
       Charge Item Code: Emergency Bunker Surcharge ( EBS )
       Quantum: USD 57/Teu
 
EBS applies to all cargoes and commodities, including reefers and special equipments.

Separately, Evergreen Line has also decided to extend the duration of it Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) until 31st December  of 2009. It says the reasoning behind the move is to respond to anticipated customer concerns over space availability continuing into Q4 after many lines have trimmed their services.  [08/08/09]
