Hong Kong: The member lines of the Far Eastern Freight Conference (FEFC) are increasing rates to and from Asia on 1 July. From Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe, Baltic/Scandinavia and Mediterranean, is increasing the rate for GP containers by US$300 per teu while the rate for reefer boxes will go up by US$400 per teu.
The lines maintain: "The higher rate increase quantum is to enable lines to recover higher costs incurred in serving reefer customers."
The FEFC is also applying a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) from Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe/Baltic/Scandinavian and Mediterranean areas of US$135 per teu from Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe/Baltic/Scandinavia from1 August to 15 November while to the Mediterranean the same increase will apply from 1 June to 15 October. [01/06/07]
