Fire at DSME yard leaves two dead, seven injured
A fire broke out on a 84,000-dwt LPG carrier at Okpo Shipyard of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) on Monday morning, killing two yard workers and leaving seven injured, reports said.

The fire appeared to have been caused by a welding spark inside the newbuilding vessel under construction at the shipyard, located in South Gyeongsang province.

Two workers died at the scene of the accident and seven have been hospitalised for treatment, local media reported.

DSME said it has set up a team to deal with the procedures for compensations and funeral arrangements with the victims’ families.

Firefighters were reportedly battling the flame for most of the day before containing the fire by late afternoon.
