Firefighting experts doubled on Charlotte Maersk

Port Klang: Maersk has doubled the number of firefighting experts it has onboard the boxship Charlotte Maersk off Port Klang, Malaysia. The fire on ship, which started last Wednesday, continued to remain contained and under control as spokeperson for Maersk told Seatrade Asia Week. Firefighters continued to individually put out fires in 150 containers onboard and have so extinguished 20 containers. The number of firefighting experts has also been upped. "There are now two fire fighting expert team leaders and 13 fire fighting experts on board Charlotte Maersk," the spokesperson said. This compared to one team leader and seven experts on Monday. The fire started at 2100hrs on July 7 after the 8,194 teu vessel left Port Klang bound for Oman [13/07/10]
