Abu Dhabi: The first phase of Khalifa seaport in Taweelah will become operational in mid-2012, Maqita Al Ahbabi, Senior Coordinator, Project Development Strategy and Development, Abu Dhabi Ports Company said at the Abu Dhabi Economic Forum.
Al Ahbabi said construction at the 15 million teu capacity seaport will be in five phases with the last phase scheduled to be completed in 2030.
"The estimated investment by 2030 in developing the infrastructure at the Khalifa Port Industrial Zone is $24 billion. There will also be private partnerships," Al Ahbabi added.
The management of Khalifa port will be shared by Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT) and DP World. [04/03/09]
