Fisher took up the post of ceo on 1 September following a strategic review of Masterbulk’s operations. Singapore-based Masterbulk noted Fisher had “considerable experience of change management”.
“I am very enthusiastic about Nick’s appointment. He brings all the skill-sets we need to take our business forward and better meet our clients’ ever-evolving needs,” said Fordham.
“The current process is not about cutting jobs or head count, it’s about putting in place a management team that can take full advantage of our organisation’s reputation and solid market position. In recent years, shipping has been, and remains, a tough business, but there are always opportunities for those who have managed their affairs carefully.”
Stephen Fordham will be stepping down from the role of executive chairman of Masterbulk and Westfal Larsen Shipping in due course but remain as chairman.
