Foreign lines start charging Vietnamese companies THC

Hanoi: Vietnamese companies have been informed that besides the transportation fee, they will also have to pay an extra sum of $65/20-foot container and $98/40-foot container. The collection will be applied to consignments to be shipped on European routes from May 2 and on American routes from May 15. The THC levels of $60/20-foot container and $90/40-foot container will be applied to consignments to be shipped to the Middle East and Asia from June 1. Tran Huu Huynh, Head of the Legal Department under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), which has been assigned to negotiate with shipping companies about THC collection, said that the negotiation board had sent a letter to shipping companies, recommending not to unilaterally collect THC from Vietnamese import and export companies.
