Former marine minister arrested on graft charges

Seoul: South Korean prosecutors have arrested a former maritime minister.  Kang Moo-Hyun stands accused of taking KRW 90m ($90,000) in bribes from six or seven owners. In exchange he offered more relaxed regulations.

Between 2004 and 2008 Kang served as a deputy maritime minister and then minister under the Roh Moo-Hyun presidency.

He is the first minister from the Roh government to be arrested on graft charges. Roh's five-year term ended in February. [22/7/08]
