Fuzhou Port continues strong box growth

Fuzhou Port continues strong box growth

Shanghai: Fuzhou International Container Terminal (FICT), part of PSA International, has commissioned a second berth in line with the port's expansion plan. The new berth (Berth 2), which has a draught of 15.5 metres, brings total quay length to 651 metres and the number of post-panamax quay cranes to five. A third berth, with 16 metre draught, is due to be added in the second quarter, increasing port capacity to 1.2m teu

Commissioning of the second berths coincided with Fuzhou Port passing the 1m teu throughput mark in late December. Total 2006 container traffic at the port, which located on the middle of Fujian province's coastline facing the Taiwan Strait, was up 25% on the 803,000teu of 2005. [03/01/07]
