Dubai: GAC Marine Logistics (GML), the ship spares logistics arm of UAE-headquartered GAC Group, is opening a new warehouse in Rotterdam to improve service to Europe-based customers. The move follows GML's ading of offices in Hong Kong, Greece and Rotterdam earlier this year, asdding to existing presences in Dubai, Singapore, Mumbai and Sao Paolo.
Ideally located near the sea-port, the Rotterdam warehouse spreads over 2,160 square metres and offers more than 1,300 pallet positions. Specially configured to meet the demands of spares storage - which require flexible options due to the huge variance in size and weight - the facility also offers an open storage area as well as office accommodation.
Managing director Chris Steibelt says that as a maritime hub, Rotterdam is a traditional point for both procurement and delivery of ship spares for vessel calls in Europe. GML's Rotterdam office acts as a central base for servicing Europe-based clients, and the establishment of a warehouse facility is a natural extension to its suite of specialised ship spares management services. A key aspect of the new facility will be use of GAC's proprietary online warehouse management system GACWare for efficient inventory management. [14/12/07]
