Singapore: The GAC Group has announced the formation of a strategic alliance with the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) to provide weather routing solutions for the maritime industry.
Services provided under the new GAC-SMHI partnership include onboard weather routing, the Fleetweb system of up-to-the-minute tracking of vessel positions, and Post Voyage Analysis.
The GAC-SMHI services is offered under the auspices of GAC Solutions, a unit that was launched in April 2007, headquartered in Singapore. In addition to the weather routing services offered, GAC Solutions also provides services for Fire, Rescue and Safety
Christer Sjödoff, Group vp of GAC Solutions, says the alliance promotes a total concept that optimises today's available meteorological and oceanographic information, resulting in safer sea transportation and cargo handling, lower bunker consumption, realistic ETA planning and minimised impact on the environment.
