GAC streamlines Asian marine logistics

Singapore: Global ship spares logistics specialist GAC Marine Logistics (GML) has expanded its Asia base in Singapore in an attempt to meet what it terms surging customer demand for time definite ship spares delivery to worldwide locations. The company's local GAC ship spares team has merged with the GML team responsible for catering to Asia-based owners and ship management companies sourcing globally. Chris Steibelt, md of GML, says Singapore is an ideal base from which to provide specialised 'door-to-deck' solutions to the region, meaning that the company now offers a single point of contact for all Asian ship spares requirements. Kenneth Bybjerg, formerly logistics manager for GAC Singapore, will head the new team.
GML, which increased revenue by 86% during the first half, expanded Mumbai operations in May and also plans to augment its sales offices in Hong Kong (and Europe) in the near future.  [04/10/06]
