Mumbai: India's Garware Offshore Services is reported to be in talks with Norway-based ship Havyard Leirvik to set up a 50-50 joint venture shipyard that will cater exclusively to the offshore support vessel market. "We have been building ships for Garware and now we are looking at cementing this relationship through other alternative investment options together," Geir Johan Bakke, Havyard Group president and ceo told the press, adding, "However, nothing has been finalized." The yard is likely to be set up off the coast of Gujarat (pictured), which boasts a naturally deep draught. [08/10/07]
