Dalian: Germanischer Lloyd is presenting a new software tool for design offices and shipyards called "GL ShipLoad" at the Shiport China trade show in Dalian this week. The Hamburg-based classification society describes it as a user-friendly program that computes the load spectra for reliable finite element analysis of a ship. The graphic user interface permits rapid and reliable application of ship, wave and cargo parameters to the FE model, and hydrographic and hydrodynamic calculations are integrated, it says. In addition, the society's training institute GL Academy is offering a workshop on newbuilding management at the show. [23/10/06]
