Shanghai: General Motors has announced plans to ship more than $700m worth of cars and motor products to China in the next few years. The booming Chinese economy has increased the quality of life in the country such that demand for luxury goods- particularly cars, has skyrocketed.

According to GM vice president of global public policy and government relations, Ken Cole, exports to china over the past decade total close to $3.5bn including vehicles, components, equipment and machinery.
