Singapore: Greatship Global Offshore Services has signed a contract with Mumbai based Mazagon Dock Ltd for the construction of two new building multipurpose Platform Supply & Support Vessels (PSVs). These vessels, of over 4,600dwt, are expected to join the Singapore-based company's fleet in the second half of 2010. They will each be fitted with DP- 2 (Dynamic positioning) systems and have diesel electric propulsion.
According to the company, the PSVs, which are also prepared for helideck and offshore crane, "are larger and technologically more advanced than any PSV currently operational in the Indian waters."
Greatship Global Offshore Services is wholly owned by Greatship (India) Limited (GIL), which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mumbai-based G E Shipping. The new vessels bring GIL's orderbook to 16 new building Offshore Supply Vessels (two mid sized PSV's, eight AHTSV's and six MPSSV's) and a newbuild 350 feet Jack up Rig.
Mazagon Dock Limited, which has facilities situated at Mumbai and Nhava, specialises in building warships and offshore platforms. It also has repair capabilities. [07/11/07]
