Dubai: Gulftainer has announced the opening of a new warehousing depot (pictured) on the outskirts of Sharjah with easy access to the Sharjah Inland Container Depot (SICD) as well as the Khorfakkan and Sharjah Container Terminals. The company claims that the first phase of the terminal has been extremely successful, with a large number of the 11 x 8000 and 6000 square feet warehouses already contracted to clients.
Gulftainer director and gm Peter Richards said, "The opening of the SICD nearly three years ago prompted large numbers of consignees and shippers to re-assess their transportation needs and it soon became clear in conversations with them that many were also looking for more cost effective and accessible locations for their warehousing activities. We decided to provide these facilities where our ICD is located." The company is currently assessing the options for Phase 2 of the project. [19/02/07]
