Hamburg Bulk Carriers confirms options for three bulkers
Germany-based Hamburg Bulk Carriers has exercised shipbuilding options with China-based Qingshan Shipyard to build three 43,500 dwt dry bulk carriers, worth a total of $70m.

In June this year, Hamburg Bulk Carriers signed a shipbuilding deal with the Chinese yard to build three 43,500 dwt environmentally-friendly bulkers with an option for nine similar units. Following the conversion of three optional vessels into firm orders, the European shipowner is now left with an option for six more bulkers.

The 12 vessels including options to be built at Qingshan Shipyard are worth a total of $270m.

Hamburg Bulk Carriers is planning to invest a further $130m by the end of this year to build six more eco-friendly designed bulkers at an unspecified Chinese yard.
