Hong Kong: Hamburg Süd has announced that it is to upgrade its Asia and Australia/New Zealand (ANZL) liner service as of mid-September in conjunction with its partners Tasman Orient Line and Hapag-Lloyd. Five new 1,800teu chartered vessels, featuring 400 reefers slots each, will be phased into the fixed-day weekly service with an enhanced port rotation, replacing five smaller ships.
The updated joint service will follow the port rotation: Yokohama - Kobe - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Brisbane - Tauranga - Lyttleton - New Plymouth - Yokohama.
In a statement, Hamburg Süd said, 'Tailor-made for this trade, these new vessels will allow Hamburg Süd the flexibility to call at additional ports throughout the year in order to cover specific seasonal customer requirements."
The German container liner has also announced that is seeking to "expand its range of quality services to the entire Asian market, as well as to Australia and New Zealand." [20/08/07]
