Shanghai: The Hellespont Shipping Corporation officially named the last two in its series of six panamax tankers built by the New Century Shipbuilding Company in Jingjiang last week The vessels, christened the Hellespont Providence and Hellespont Protector, will both begin long-term charters with Japan-based Sanko Steamship on delivery later this year.
Hellespont operates a fleet of nine vessels including four panamax product carriers from the same series as the new vessels, one aframax tanker and four suezmax tankers. The company has eight chemical carriers and six platform supply vessels on order and plans to have a fifth suezmax tanker under operation shortly. [12/11/07]
