HHI increases size of engine plant

Seoul: Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) plans to invest a total of KRW 410bn to increase production of vessel engines and ships to meet rising global demand, said the company in a public disclosure on Tuesday.

HHI plans to spend KRW260 billion in expanding its existing engine plant, and KRW 150bn to build a new vessel block plant at its Gunsan production site, said the company. Earlier this year the firm announced plans for the construction of a tenth dry dock at its Ulsan facility. Its share price has been trading at record highs. [09/10/07]
