Hyundai Heavy inks $1.1bn in LNG orders
Seoul: Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) clinched orders worth $1.1bn to build four LNG carriers and one LNG floating storage regasification unit (FSRU).

The world's biggest shipbuilder won orders to build two 162,000 cubic metres LNG carriers for Golar LNG and two same class ships for an unnamed European shipowner. The contract with Golar LNG includes an option for two additional same class LNG carriers.

The new gas carriers are scheduled for delivery between the second quarter of 2014 and the first half of 2015, according to HHI. The newbuildings will feature dual fuel diesel engine system that allows the ships to run on fuel oil and natural gas.

The South Korean yard's contract for the LNG FSRU is an option exercised by Hoegh from an earlier contract signed in June 2011. The 170,000 cubic metres LNG FSRU is due to be delivered by the second quarter of 2014.
