Hanoi: Hyundai Vinashin shipyard stands accused of burying up to 60 tonnes of toxic chemicals and other industrial waste near a kindergarten last week. Authorities are investigating the case and may well widen the probe as police suggest that since 1996 the joint venture yard, located in Vietnam's central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, has produced more than 600,000 tonnes of untreated rubbish and more than 245 tonnes of steel filings and oil sludge. This year the repair yard has ventured into newbuildings taking a series of bulker orders. [16/7/08]
