Mumbai: The Indian government will import 100,000 tonnes of liquified petroleum gas (lpg) from foreign sources as a result of fire damage to India's largest lpg refining facility, based in Jamnagar and run by Reliance Industries. The fire, which broke out this morning, was limited to a secondary unit at the facility that is expected to be out of operation for 10 days. M S Srinivasan, special secretary in the Ministry of petroleum and natural gas, is reported to have already instructed the Indian Oil Corporation to arrange for lpg imports to sustain market supplies.
