In its annual results Inmarsat said 2,600 ships had FX installed at end 2017 compared to 335 at the end of 2016.
“In Maritime, we made important strategic progress in securing the long term future for Fleet Xpress, with significant commitments signed with leading distribution partners,” commented Rupert Pierce ceo of Inmarsat.
The company said it has over 10,000 ships committed to join FX in the coming years ensuring strong future growth.
It noted the addressable market for VSAT was expected to over the next decade to around 40,000 vessels with the segment worth around $1bn.
