Tehran: The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) has launched a new route combining its current ECL service from the North West Continent (NWC) and the PCL service from the Far East Ports. "Both the routes will no longer end in the Persian Gulf", said an IRISL spokesperson, "instead, IRISL will now offer a route from the NWC through to the Far East Ports which combines the two services."
The new route is expected to increase traffic through Iran, particularly once the company increases the available tonnage upon delivery of 15 new vessels ordered from Iranian and German Shipyards. It is currently in the process of replacing the 1,000 teu vessels on its ECL service with newer 2,400 teu vessels.Â
Currently the Europe (ECL) service calls at: Bandar Abbas, Dubai, Nsict, Malta, Misuratah, Felixstowe, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Genoa, Malta, Jeddah, Bandar Abbas. The Far East North Asia (PCL) service calls at: Shanghai, Kwangyang, Busan, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Dubai, Bandar Abbas, Shanghai. [19/12/2006]
