Tehran: The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) has announced plans to launch a new Asia-Europe service. Although the start date of the service is yet to be announced, an IRISL representative confirmed that the route would initiate in the Far East and call at ports in China, Southeast Asia, the Persian Gulf, North Europe and the Mediterranean Sea. The route would initially be operated by 11 vessels of between 4,900 to 6,500teu capacity, which would be increased in the long term. Analysts expect to see a steady growth in European demand for Chinese goods over the coming year. [01/05/07]
